The Lens That Made My Digital Camera Feel Like Film

There’s a certain kind of photo I kept trying to recreate.
Soft, slightly imperfect, a little rough around the edges – the kind that feels nostalgic. I’d try to get there through editing, tweaking settings, adjusting everything just enough… but it never quite landed the same way.
So when I came across a disposable-style lens made for digital cameras, I was sold. Not because it promised better photos; but because it didn’t. Also, who doesn’t want their lens to look like an Oreo?!

A different way of shooting.
I’ve been using this lens since March 2025, mounted on my Fujifilm X-T30 II.
It’s about as simple as it gets. Fixed focus. Fixed aperture. No settings to adjust, no fine-tuning to fall back on. You just point, frame, and press the shutter.
It turns a “proper” camera into something much closer to a point-and-shoot. There’s less second-guessing, less chasing perfection. You take the photo, and that’s kind of it! Sometimes it works beautifully, sometimes it doesn’t – but it always feels a bit more honest.
Why I love it.
As I’ve been going through my folders to pull together examples for this post, I’ve realised just how many of my favourite photos from the past year were taken with this lens (and that’s saying a lot, because I really do love my Fujifilm lenses).
The images have a very distinct feel – soft focus, a gentle blur, and just enough unpredictability to keep things interesting. It’s not trying to be technically perfect, which makes it perfect for the little, everyday moments.
It’s also incredibly slim and lightweight, which makes it an easy one to throw in your bag (or keep on your camera) for travel or day-to-day use – it’s essentially just a little piece of plastic, in the best way.
If you’re after sharp, highly detailed images, this probably isn’t the lens for you. It can struggle a little in lower light, and there’s not much flexibility with the fixed setup. But if you’re looking for something more playful and low-pressure, it’s a really lovely shift in how you shoot.
